Patrick C. Burns, 62 of Grafton, ND passed away on Friday, May 13, 2011 at Altru Hospital of Grand Forks, ND. Patrick C. Burns was born January 26, 1949 in Grafton, ND the son of the late Leslie and Donna (Kingsbury) Burns. He attended schools in Auburn and graduated from Grafton High School in 1967. He attended the North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton, ND for computer programming. He served two years in the United States Army from 1970-72. Following his discharge he returned to Grafton and worked general construction for Paul Janousek. He later worked for A& H Implement and Odell Berg Farms. He was united in marriage to Sandra Halvorson on May 7, 1976 in Grafton and the couple made their home here. He drove truck for Trans Systems and S& S trucking in Grand Forks before going on his own in 1987. He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and past member of Grafton American Legion Post #41. Patrick is survived by his wife Sandra of Grafton, ND; his children: Wade (Shirley) Burns, Mesa, AZ; Shawnda (Duane) Kemnitz, Grand Forks, ND; Brent (Jen) Burns, Fargo, ND; five grandchildren: Blake, Zak, Danica and Grace Kemnitz and Jayce Burns, his siblings: Beverly Anderson, Fordville, ND; Donald (Cheryl) Burns, Grafton, ND; Michael (Kerry) Burns, Hamilton, ND; Barbara (Frank) Dolan, Bemidji, MN; Jane (Tom) Knight, Escondido, CA; Judy Osowski, Grand Forks, ND; Jack (Phyllis) Burns, Grafton, ND; Tim (Mary Kay) Burns, Grafton, ND; and several nieces, nephews, great and great great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers-in-law: Orrin Osowski and Ken Anderson, niece Angela Burns and nephew Sean Burns. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, May 19, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church of Grafton. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-7 with a prayer service at 7:00 PM and on Thursday for one hour prior to the service all at St. John's Catholic Church. Interment will be at St. John's Catholic Cemetery. Military rites will be provided by the Grafton American Legion Post #41 and the North Dakota National Guard Honor Guard.
