Pamela J. Berntson

Pamela J. Berntson, age 60 of Adams, ND died unexpectedly of a massive heart attack on Saturday, June 2, 2012 at her home near Adams. Pamela Jean Vande Hoven was born August 7, 1951 in New Rockford, ND the daughter of Henry and Doris (Walton). She graduated from Carrington High School and graduated from NDSU in Fargo with a degree in Home Economics. Pamela was united in marriage to Paul Berntson on November 25, 1972 in Carrington, ND. The couple lived in Billings, MT until 1975 when they moved to Garrison, ND where they established Berntson Equipment, an I-H farm equipment dealership. Pam was actively involved with the business as a bookkeeper. In 1989 the family returned to the Berntson home farm near Adams where they established the Berntson Seed Farm. She took care of the books for the farm as well as working as a bookkeeper for Lamb Equipment in Michigan, ND and Grafton Equipment in Grafton, ND. In 2002 Pam established her own custom quilting business known as Pam's Quilting. Pam also loved serving for many years on the Park River Bible Camp board of directors, and served there most recently as treasurer and chair of the quilt auction. Pam was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and WELCA of Edinburg, ND. She was also active with many quilting groups throughout the area. Pam's free time was spent designing spectacular flower gardens, creating quilt masterpieces, or playing with her grandchildren. She was extremely proud of her three grandchildren, often saying that being a grandma was now her purpose in life. She was anxiously waiting to hold her fourth grandchild in August. Pam is survived by her husband Paul, Adams, ND; her son Andrew and his wife Wendy of Adams, ND; daughters: Jennifer Berntson, Fargo, ND; Rebecca and her husband Paul Meidinger, Fargo, ND; grandchildren: Evelyn, Lillian and Gregory Meidinger, Fargo, ND; her mother: Doris Vande Hoven, New Rockford, ND; siblings: JoAnn (Rodney) Settlemeyer, New Rockford, ND; Michael (Deb) Vande Hoven, Carrington, ND; Judy (Mike) Fandrich, New Rockford, ND; Paula (Bill) Loose, Woodworth, ND. Several nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her father Henry and brothers: Gary and Randy. Funeral services will be Thursday, June 7, 2012 at 10:30 A.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church of Edinburg. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Park River Bible Camp Chapel. Friends may also call at Trinity Lutheran Church on Thursday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Hitterdahl Lutheran Cemetery, rural Adams, ND. Memorials can be directed to Park River Bible Camp (Park River, ND) or Camp Grassick (Dawson, ND).
