Orville Gerald Strommen, age 95, of Park River, ND passed away on Friday, February 25, 2011 at the First Care Health Center of Park River, ND. Orville Gerald Strommen was born July 17, 1915 in Crosby, North Dakota the son of the late Ole and Olia (Roa) Strommen. He fought in WWII as a member of the 612 Tank Destroyer Battalion, and spent fourteen months in France and Germany. Gerald married Grace Clark on July 11, 1950. In 1951 the couple moved to Stonebank, Wisconsin where they established a dry cleaning business. Gerald also worked as a machinist and part time selling cars during retirement. In 1977 Gerald and Grace moved to Park River. Grace passed away September 28, 2004. Gerald moved into the Good Samaritan Center of Park River, ND in 2005. Gerald wrote two books of poems and loved the Green Bay Packers football team. He was a member of the Mountain Lutheran Church of Adams, ND. Gerald is survived by two daughters Bonnie Ross, Ray, ND and Linda (Lowell) Williams, Park Rapids, MN; two sisters Stella Myrvik, Park River, ND and Doris (James) Haug, Edinburg, ND; grandchildren, great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Grace, an infant daughter, and sisters: Thelma Flom and Luella Flom. Funeral services will be Monday, February 28, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Park River, ND. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be at Trinity Cemetery, Adams, ND.
