Opal I. Samuelson

Opal I. Samuelson, age 89 of Fairdale and Adams, ND passed away on Wednesday, November 27, 2013 in Fairdale. Opal Irene McLaughlin was born March 14, 1924 in Cleveland Township of Walsh County, ND the daughter of the late William and Clara (Nagel) McLaughlin. She attended rural school in Lankin, ND. Opal was united in marriage to Neil Olson in 1946. On December 2, 1956 she was united in marriage to Willard C. Samuelson in Fordville, ND. The couple lived and farmed near Adams, ND. Opal was currently living in Fairdale, ND and enjoyed helping her daughter Sheila with the Café in Fairdale. Her baking skills were well known. Opal was a member of the Gustavus-Adolphus Lutheran Church, rural Adams, ND. She was an active member of the Adams American Legion Auxiliary. Opal is survived by her children: Harold (Cheryl) Olson, Lankin, ND; Rolland (Rita) Olson, Colorado Springs, CO; Keith (Cynthia) Olson, Colorado Springs, CO; Sheila (Gene) Myrvik, Fairdale, ND; Corrine (Eric) Aasmundstad, Devils Lake, ND; Janet (Javiar) Castellanos, Santa Maria, CA. 16 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren with one more on the way. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Willard, and sister Crystal McLaughlin. Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at 1:00 PM at the Mountain Lutheran Church in Adams, ND. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Park River. Friends may also call at the church on Wednesday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Gustavus-Adolphus Lutheran Cemetery in the spring.
