Olafur Horgdal

Olafur Horgdal, age 81 of Gardar, ND passed away on Thursday, April 29, 2010 at the Wedgewood Manor of Cavalier, ND. Olafur Horgdal was born November 4, 1928 near Regina, Sasketchwan Canada, the son of the late Wilhelm and Olaf (Olafson) Horgdal. He moved to the United States with his family and attended school here. He was united in marriage to Alvina Mikesh in 1946 in Langdon. They lived in Osnabrock, St. Thomas and Gardar where Olafur worked as farm labor. She died July 16, 1999 and he later moved to the Borg Home in Mountain. On February 16, 2009 he moved to the Wedgewood Manor in Cavalier. Olafur is survived by his children: Ole (Deb Danielson) Horgdal, Henderson, IA; Alvin (Kelly) Horgdal, Henderson, IA; Wilfred (Debbie) Horgdal, Oakland, IA; Ann Charette, Yankton, SD; 15 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and sister Laura Johnson, Wedgewood Manor in Cavalier. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers and four sisters. Visitation will be Monday, May 3, 2010 from 10-12 at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Edinburg. A graveside service will be Monday, May 3rd at 12:30 PM at the Andvari Cemetery near Cavalier.
