Norris D. Haug

Norris D. Haug, age 86 of Edinburg, ND passed away on Monday, July 09, 2012 at the Borg Pioneer Home of Mountain, ND. Norris D. Haug was born in rural Edinburg, ND March 24, 1926, to James and Anna (Holth) Haug. He was baptized and confirmed in the Odalen Lutheran Church. Norris attended Tiber District #92 and Edinburg High School. Following his education Norris farmed on the farm homesteaded by his grandparents. He raised Registered Angus Cattle. Norris was a past director of the Farmers Union Oil Company of Edinburg and Production Credit Association of Grafton. He was a member of Odalen Lutheran Church where he served in various offices, and later became a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church. Norris enjoyed music. He played in the Edinburg band and sang in church and community choirs. Norris married Lorna Axvig on December 30, 1983. The couple made their home in rural Edinburg and West Fargo, ND. He is survived by his wife Lorna, West Fargo, ND; step-children: Randy (Susan) Axvig, Bismarck, ND; Lana (Jeff) Hillius, Detroit Lakes, MN and Darrell (Samantha) Axvig, West Fargo, ND; nine step-grandchildren; brothers: James (Doris) Haug, Edinburg, ND; Glenn (Donna) Haug, Adams, ND; sisters: Irma (Floyd) Gemmill, Fordville, ND and Anne Christine Puppe, Cavalier, ND. Several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law Earl Puppe. Funeral services will be Friday, July 13, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Edinburg. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-7 with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Edinburg. Friends may call at the church on Friday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Odalen Lutheran Cemetery, rural Edinburg. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Odalen Cemetery Fund or Borg Pioneer Memorial Home in Mountain, ND.
