Norris Gronhovd

Norris J. Gronhovd, age 78 of Grafton, ND, passed away on Monday, October 12, 2015 at the Altru Hospital of Grand Forks. Norris Gronhovd was born February 10, 1937 in Langdon, ND, the son of the late Edwin and Helmina (Hendricksen) Gronhovd. He grew up and graduated High School in Nekoma, ND. He then attended the winter short course at the North Dakota Agricultural College in Fargo. Following his education, he returned to Nekoma and continued working on the family farm with his father. He was united in marriage to Janet Spenst on June 3, 1966 at the Swiss Mennonite Church in Alsen, ND. The couple made their home on the farm near Nekoma until Norris retired from full-time farming in 1987 and the couple moved to Grafton, ND. Once in Grafton, he continued to work with area farmers. He was a member of the Nekoma Lutheran Church of Nekoma, ND and later of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church of Grafton, ND. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, Twins baseball, UND hockey, going to auction sales, watching high school basketball and watching any activities or events that his grandchildren were in. He is survived by his wife Janet, Grafton, ND, children: Elroy (Michelle Myhre) Gronhovd, Bismarck, ND, Arden Gronhovd, Nekoma, ND, Luann (Louis Tian) Gronhovd, Senegal, West Africa, and Sharon (Shawn) Kasprick, Grafton, ND, 7 grandchildren, siblings: Walter Gronhovd, Nekoma, ND, and Esther (Clyde) Allen, Moorhead, MN. Several nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings: Gordon (Dee) Gronhovd, Ruth (Gordon) Heistad, and Dorothy Gronhovd, and sister-in-law Lorene Gronhovd. Funeral services will be Saturday, October 17, 2015 at 10:30 A.M. at the Our Saviour's Lutheran Church of Grafton. Visitation will be Friday from 5-7 with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Friends may also call at the church for one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at the Highland Cemetery of rural Fairdale.
