Norma J. Gieszler, age 74 of Park River, ND passed away on Sunday, August 19, 2012 at First Care Health Center of Park River. Norma J. Gieszler was born April 18, 1938 in Garrison, ND the daughter of the late Wilmer and Hazel (Page) Hodges. She graduated from Garrison High School and later attended Business College in Omaha, Neb. Upon graduation she worked at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. She later moved back to North Dakota and worked for the Corp of Engineers in Riverdale and a law firm in Garrison. Norma was united in marriage to Larry Gieszler on November 25, 1960 in Garrison. She loved to golf, play cards, fish and attend her son's and grandchildren's sporting events. She was an avid fan of the UND Sioux Women's Basketball team, attending games frequently with her husband Larry and family friends. Norma especially enjoyed driving spud truck during potato harvest for Midgarden Farms. She was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church and the Park River American Legion Auxiliary. Norma is survived by her husband Larry of Park River, ND; sons: Kevin (Jody); Longview, WA and Shawn (Jan), Bismarck, ND; grandchildren: Ashley, Jessie, Shannon, Marrissa and Brandon; great grandchildren: Syles and Colby; brother, Mike (Jane) Hodges, Colorado Springs, CO; sister, Claire (Tom) Fitzgerald, Washburn, ND; nephew, Mark (Arlinda) Hodges; sister-in-law: Beverly Hodges and nieces Erin and Aimee Fitzgerald. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Harvey and son Thomas. Funeral services will be Friday, August 24, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church of Park River. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-7 with a prayer service at 7 P.M. at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Park River. Friends may also call at the church for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Park River, ND.
