Noel J.H. Tufte

Noel J. H. Tufte, age 83 of Park River, formerly of Northwood, ND, passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at the Good Samaritan Center of Park River. Noel J.H. Tufte was born October 24, 1927 in Northwood, ND the son of the late Hans and Myrtle (Bentestuen) Tufte. He graduated from Northwood High School. Following his education he was united in marriage to Veree Pendergast on December 29, 1952 in Northwood. The couple lived in Northwood and farmed near Northwood. Veree passed away on December 5, 2005 and Noel moved to Park River on October 15, 2006. Noel was a member of the Northwood Evangelical Lutheran Church, where he served on the church board. He served on various community boards and served on the Federal Land Bank Board. Noel is survived by his children: Greg Tufte, Maple Grove, MN; Monica (Arlen) Simon, Park River, ND; grandchildren: Brenton Hell, Fargo, ND; Taylor, Brooke and Jake Tufte, Maple Grove, MN; brother Marvin (Wanda) Tufte, Mesa, AZ; and sister Helen (Ralph) Ness, Coon Rapids, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and brother Allen. Funeral services will be Saturday, August 27, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Northwood Evangelical Lutheran Church. Visitation will be Friday from 5-7 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home, Park River, ND. Friends may also call at the church on Saturday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Northwood City Cemetery.
