Nira “Dolly” Mae Fredericksen, age 85 of Mitchell, SD, formerly of Grafton, ND passed away Thursday, June 14, 2018 at the Queen of Peace Hospital in Mitchell, SD.
Nira Mae Papenfuss was born May 23, 1933 in Hamilton, ND, the daughter of the late Erwin and Cecilia (Sellhin) Papenfuss. She graduated from Hamilton High School. After her education she worked as a waitress and as a direct care professional at the Grafton Developmental Center. She was united in marriage to Ralph Fredericksen in 1953 in Cavalier, ND. The couple made their home in Grafton. She retired from the Developmental Center in 1994. Ralph passed away June 9, 1988. Nira moved to Mitchell, SD in June of 2008, where she lived until the time of her death.
She was a member of the Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church and WELCA and the Doll Club.
Nira is survived by her children: Lyle (Donna) Fredericksen, Grafton, ND; LaRae (Doyle) Willis, Mitchell, SD; grandchildren: Michael Willis, Rocky, Merlin, Brad, Derek, Christy, Jennifer, Beverly and Rodney Fredericksen; 12 great grandchildren and brother, Denny Papenfuss, Cavalier, ND, She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ralph, sons: Rodney and Charles, grandson, Greg Fredericksen and siblings: twin sister, Norma, Clemie, Louie and Earl.
Memorial Services will be Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at 10:30 A.M. at the Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church of Grafton. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be at the Hillside Memorial Cemetery, Walhalla, ND.
