Neil O. Larson

Neil O. Larson, age 102 of Park River, ND passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2024 at the First Care Health Center of Park River.

Neil Oliver Larson was born March 25, 1921 in Kensington Township of Walsh County, ND the son of the late Enoch and Pauline (Kjos) Larson. He attended rural school at the Kensington School and graduated from the Walsh County Agricultural School in Park River. He attended the North Dakota State University in Fargo for a time before returning to Park River to farm with his father and brother Gene.  Neil was united in marriage to Doris Haugen on June 29, 1949 in Bagley, MN. The couple made their home on the farm near Park River. Neil and Gene ran a potato wash plant until 1996 and he continued to farm through 2006. Doris passed away on March 3, 2009.

Neil accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior as a young man. He lived his life accordingly and taught his family through his example. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was known for his home movies.

Neil is survived by his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren:  Dan Larson;  JoAnn (Michael) Hubred and children Jordan (Chelsea) Hubred &  children: Rosie, Ellis, Fern; Christine (Nick) Graanfox  & daughter,  Florence;  Valeria (Sheldon) Espe and children Erica Espe, Ingrid (Doug) Lewis & daughter Elora; Aaron (Heidi) Espe and  children:  Silas, August, Lorentz, & Magnus; Greta (Tom) Stinar and children:  Henry, Simon, & Gus; Gwen (DeWayne) Johnson and children: Bethany (Joshua) Kamrud and  children, Jens, Shylah, Dawson, Gunnar, & Duke;  Crystal (Aaron) Balek and  children:  Enoch, Jed & Ivy; Caryn (Rob) Parrish and children: Lisa (Edwin) Hahn, Daniel (Lauren) Parrish and son, Wilder, Renae (Benjamin Cassidy) Rentz and daughter, Violet; and Lori Larson.  Neil is also survived by his nephews Stephen (Dena) Larson and Dwight (Shane) Larson and many nieces and nephews.  One sister- in- law also survives him, Devona Haugen. Neil was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and brother Gene and several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.

Funeral services will be Saturday, March 23, 2024 at 3:00 PM at the Victory Free Lutheran Church of Park River, ND. Visitation will be Friday from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Park River. Friends may also call at the church on Saturday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Park River, ND.
