Muriel M. Gjein

Muriel M. Gjein, age 104, of Grafton, ND passed away on Saturday, May 15, 2010 at the Lutheran Sunset Home of Grafton. Muriel M. Gjein was born March 18, 1906 in Rural Grafton, ND the daughter of the late Martin and Hannah (Buom) Larson. She grew up in Grafton and attended country school. Muriel was united in marriage to Lawrence Jorgenson on April 9, 1930 in Grafton, ND. The couple made their home on the family farm in Rural Grafton. Lawrence passed away on March 24, 1984. Muriel was then united in marriage to Einar Gjein on November 7, 1989 in Grafton, ND. Einar and Muriel made their home in Grafton. Einar passed away on July 23, 1995. Muriel worked at the dress shop in Grafton. She enjoyed arts and crafts and entered handiwork and crafts in the Walsh County Fair, earning multiple awards. She was a volunteer worker at the Lutheran Sunset Home and was involved with the Grafton Senior Citizens for many years. Muriel moved to the Lutheran Sunset Home in June of 2008. Muriel was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, and brother Humbert.
