Morris K. Monson, age 95 of Grafton, ND passed away Friday, January 13, 2017 at the Lutheran Sunset Home of Grafton.
Morris K. Monson was born February 15, 1921 in Fairdale, ND, the son of the late Olaus and Clara (Hove) Monson. He attended country school near Adams. He was drafted into the United States Army in 1942 during WWII, earning a Bronze Star. Upon his discharge in 1946 he returned to Grafton where he worked various jobs in the community. In 1949, Morris and his brother, Glenn opened Monson’s Service. A few years later Morris opened Monson’s Brake Service. After his retirement he sold his business to Valley Brake. Morris moved to the Lutheran Sunset Home on May 8, 2015.
He was a member of the South Trinity Lutheran Church, Grafton American Legion Post and the Grafton V.F.W. He loved to volunteer, help people and he enjoyed delivering Meals on Wheels. He was very proud of his service to the country.
Morris is survived by his brother, Glenn Monson, Grafton, ND; niece, Darlene (Steve) Terzich, Minneapolis, MN; nephew, Mark Monson, Minneapolis, MN; great nephews: James (Irene) Olson, Shane (Torrie) Olson, Bryce (April) Monson, Chad Monson and great niece Amanda Etter; and great great nieces and nephews: Austin, Allison, Brett, Lily and Riley. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law, Mavis Monson.
Funeral Services will be Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be at South Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, rural Grafton, in the spring. Military rites will be provided by the Grafton American Legion Post and the North Dakota National Guard Honor Guard.
