Monica Simon

Monica Simon, age 58 of Park River, ND passed away on Sunday, September 29, 2013 at her home in Park River. Monica Faye Tufte was born June 10, 1955 in Northwood, North Dakota the daughter of the late Noel and Veree (Pendergast) Tufte. She graduated from Northwood High School in 1973 and Mayville State University in 1976 with a degree in Elementary Education and a Music Minor. She taught school in Pisek, Fordville, Lankin, and Milton/Osnabrock. She also taught private music lessons. She later graduated from Devils Lake State College in 2004 with an Associate degree in nursing. Monica was currently working as the Activity Director at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Park River. Monica was united in marriage to Arlen Simon on April 2, 2005 in Park River. She was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Park River where she was one of the organists for many years. She was active in the WELCA serving as president. She was a Sunday School teacher and served on the church board. She was active with the Park River EMT's, a member of the Community Theater, the Park River American Legion Auxiliary and served on the board for the Activity Professionals of North Dakota. She is survived by her husband, Arlen, Park River, ND; son, Brenton (Julia) Hell, West Fargo, ND; brother, Greg (Julie) Tufte, Maple Grove, MN and nieces and nephews: Taylor, Brooke and Jake Tufte. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents. Memorial services will be Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at 10:30 A.M. at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church of Park River. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-7 with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church. Friends may also call at the church on Wednesday for one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Park River, ND. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Our Saviour's Lutheran Church.
