Mollie Cecilia Flahavan Landrigan, 92, of Grafton, ND, passed away on April 3, 2017 at the Lutheran Sunset Home in Grafton, ND.
Mollie was born on August 20, 1924 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Joseph Charles and Hallie Catherine (Trow) Flahavan.
Mollie married John Landrigan on November 18, 1947 at Annunciation Catholic Church, Minneapolis, Minnesota. She then moved to St. Thomas, ND where she resided until 2006. She and John then mo ved to Grafton, ND until her death.
During the years of 1981 – 2006, Mollie and John resided seasonally in Lake Havasu City, AZ, where they enjoyed golfing and spending time with their friends and family. Mollie was an active member of the Catholic church her entire life. She co-started a Grief Support Group at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Lake Havasu City after the death of their daughter, Mary Sue, who was killed in 1982. Mollie led the support group for an additional 20 years, until 2006. Mollie’s Catholic faith was her guiding principle and it was reflected in all that she did; her kindness and benevolence was extraordinary.
Mollie will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her countless acts of kindness, her wit and contagious smile. Her grandchildren will always cherish their weekend sleepovers, her homemade cinnamon rolls, playing cards and her fishy kisses.
Mollie was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Sue Landrigan; her parents Joseph and Hallie Flahavan; sisters Kathleen ‘Kass’ Flahavan, Anne Flahavan (Jake) Abbott, and Ruthie Flahavan (Francis) Phillips, as well as her brothers, Rev. Robert Flahavan SJ, and Mark Flahavan.
Mollie is survived by her husband of nearly 70 years, John Louis Landrigan; their children, Mollie Anne (Gordon) Weis of Chicago, IL, Joe Landrigan of St. Thomas, ND, and Kass (Jim) Mihelich of Grand Forks, ND; her brother Edward Flahavan (Susan O’Leary) and sister-in-law Judie Flahavan, of St. Paul, MN; as well as several nieces and nephews; She was the proud grandmother of 8 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, April 8, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church of Grafton, ND. Visitation will be Saturday for one hour prior to the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, please celebrate Mollie’s life by spreading kindness and compassion, love and laughter – for blessings are not valued until they are gone. Donations in memory of Mollie may be made to the American Cancer Society & American Diabetes Association.
