Milo H. Nygaard

Milo H. Nygaard, age 95 of Edmore passed away on Sunday, February 26, 2017 at the First Care Health Center of Park River.

Milo Howard Nygaard was born July 13, 1921 in Fairdale, ND the son of the late Eric and Aste (Grandgard) Nygaard. He attended rural school at the Dewey Township School. Following his education he farmed with his father and brother. Milo was united in marriage to Elna Sobak on March 27, 1949 in Edmore. The couple lived and farmed near Edmore until retiring in 1977. Elna passed away in 2004. Milo continued to live on the farm until Dec. of 2015 when he moved to the Edmore Rest Home.

He was a member of the former Vang Lutheran Church, rural Fairdale, and the Fairdale Sons of Norway. He also enjoyed deer hunting in his earlier years.

Milo is survived by his sons: Mark (Pam) Nygaard, West Fargo, ND; Jon (Denise) Nygaard, Alberton, MT, Kevin Nygaard, Edmore, ND; his daughter-in-law, Marja Nygaard, Lincoln, ND; nine grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, four nieces and five nephews. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son Wayne in 2016, brothers: Leo and Raymond and sisters: Gudrunn and Evelyn, two nieces and a nephew.

Funeral services will be Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Park River. Visitation will be Friday from 5-7 P.M. at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Park River. Friends may also call at the funeral home on Saturday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Vang Lutheran Cemetery, rural Fairdale in the spring.
