Mildred L. "Mid" Hartje, age 80 of Glasston, ND passed away on Sunday, December 7, 2008 at the Knute Nelson Nursing Home in Alexandria, MN surrounded by her family.
Mildred Lorenn Hartje was born on November 10, 1928 at the Dickie House in Glasston, ND under the midwifery of Eliza Dickie. She was the daughter of the late Henry W. and Ada (Papenfuss) Hartje.
Mid was raised on the Hartje farm and attended the Glasston School. She graduated from St. Thomas High School. Mid began working as a clerk with the United States Postal Service in 1971. She was employed by the USPS for almost 38 years, serving as the Postmaster of the Glasston, ND Post Office from May of 1974 until her death.
Mid is survived by her sisters: Myrtle Anderson , Fargo, ND; Ruth Dhondt, Corona, CA; and Marlene (Donald) Murtonen, Alexandria, MN; brothers: Allen, Glasston, ND and Harris (Betty), Lake Havasu City, AZ; sisters-in-law: Bernice Hartje, Grand Forks, ND and Yvonne Dybedahl, Detroit Lakes, MN. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters: Louise "Tootie" Dusterhoft, Irene McKechney, Dorothy Busch, Violet Warner and brothers: Lorin "Buddy", Clifford
Orville, Russell and Henry L. "Junior".
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, rural St. Thomas. Visitation will be on Friday, December 12, 2008 from 5:00-7:00 P.M. with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Interment will be at the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Paul's Lutheran Church or the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
