Michael L. Staffne

Michael L. Staffne, age 70 of Grafton, ND passed away on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at the Unity Medical Center of Grafton.

Michael L. Staffne was born February 12, 1947 in Fargo, ND the son of Richard and Rita (Kartes) Staffne. He grew up and attended school in Grafton, graduating from Grafton High School. Michael served in the United States Army from November 15, 1966-October 28, 1968, serving in Germany. Following his discharge he returned to Grafton and started his 44 year electrical career with Kieley Electric. Mike was united in marriage to Cathy Schumacher on May 15, 1971 in Drayton, ND. The couple made their home in Grafton. In 2012 Mike started working for Samson Electric and worked there until his death.

Michael was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. He loved spending time with his family and was especially proud of all his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Cathy, Grafton, ND; children: Tracey (Ken) Fettig, Bismarck, ND; Michael Jr. (Tanya), Fargo, ND; Brian (Jill), West Fargo, ND; Darren (Kristi), West Fargo, ND; David (LeeAnn), West Fargo, ND; Amanda (Tyler) Page, Warren, MN; 20 grandchildren, one great grandson and his parents, Richard and Rita Staffne of Grafton. Mike was preceded in death by his sister, Margaret Bodell in 2006.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, March 10, 2017 at 10:30 A.M. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church of Grafton. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Friends may also call at the church on Friday for one hour prior to the service. Military rites will be provided by the Grafton American Legion and the North Dakota Army National Guard Honor Guard.
