Michael G. Miller

April 8, 1954 — August 26, 2013

Michael G. Miller, 59, passed away unexpectedly, August 26 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks with family and caregivers at his side. Michael George Miller was born April 8, 1954, at St. Ansgar's Hospital in Park River, ND, the son of Dean and Eleanor (Trzcinski) Miller of Fordville, ND. Mike's birth date is a legal statistic, but when asked how old he was going to be he always grinned and said, "Nineteen!" And, it was always to be on "Saturday." Michael resided at a Friendship, Inc. group home in Park River, for the past 28 years. He was an entrepreneur, vending a product called Static Stoppers in laundromats. For Mike, family and friends were everything. That's all he had and all he wanted aside from an occasional horse to pet, a ride on a snowmobile or in a racecar and a turkey drumstick at Thanksgiving. He liked to bowl, fish and camp especially at Park River Bible Camp. The fish he caught at Devils Lake grew proportionally with the story. His sweet spirit was from the heart, his unconditional love was offered without reserve and his enthusiastic smile was contagious. His favorite place to be was the farm, especially riding in the pickup truck or a combine with one of his nephews or brothers. To him the toot of the horn of the semi truck was a delight. He always wanted to be part of the action. He is survived by his brothers, Robert (Rose Lynne) and Jim (Joan) of Fordville; sister, Linda Larson of Park River, nieces, Roberta (Gene) Francis of Fordville and Lisa Montgomery of New York City; nephews, Philip (Marilyn) of Leeds, Jeff (Tristan) of Abercrombie, John (Erika) of Fordville, Joe of Park River; great nieces and nephews, Crosley (Nathan) Zahradka of Lankin, Riley and Phoebe Francis of Fordville, Gunnar and Blake Miller of Abercrombie and Sawyer, Alexis and Liam Miller of Fordville and Maris and Emmitt Miller of Park River. He was preceded in death by his parents, nephew, Ian Miller and nephew-in-law, Marvin Montgomery. Memorial services will be Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at Victory Free Lutheran Church of Park River. Visitation will be Tuesday for one hour prior to the service.
