Mike Lunski, 62, of Minto, passed away Sunday, November 23, 2025, at Altru in Grand Forks surrounded by his loving children. Throughout his courageous battle with cancer, he remained positive until the very end - inspiring his family and many who were around him.
Mike was born to Yvonne and Sylvester Lunski on March 5, 1963. He grew up in Minto with his three brothers: Al, Dale and Mark. The four boys could usually be found causing some type of chaos, like BB gun wars right in their backyard.
He married Josie Loughead in 1982 and they welcomed three children, Jessica, Jacob and Chelsea.
Mike was well known as a hard worker and worked at Harriston Industries in Minto for nearly 40 years before building his own yard care business in Minto.
Over the last decade, he was restoring his childhood home to be just like he envisioned his mom would've loved it to be. During this time he became a skilled wood worker.
You could make his day by simply reminding him how much he looked like the lead singer of Alabama.
He was a proud grandpa who loved nothing more than spending time with his family enjoying all of the simple things in life like driving down country roads, shooting cans, listening to 90s country and taking in the fresh air at Golden Lake where he camped for decades.
He is survived by his children: Jessica (Jason) Nelson, Grafton; Jacob (Amanda) Lunski, Minto and Chelsea (Corey) Wysocki, Minto. Seven grandchildren: Triston (Sidney) Nelson, Anica Nelson, Graycie Wysocki, Zaiden Moen, Alaina Lunski, Iliana Vogt and Emma Wysocki. Three great grandchildren: Hadlie, Boden and Nash Nelson. His brother Al as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and other loved ones. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Dale and Mark.
Memorial services will be Tuesday, December 2, 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery of Minto. A lunch will follow at the Minto Community Center.
