Micah P. Gilleshammer

Micah P. Gilleshammer, age 23 of Durango, Colorado and formerly of St. Thomas, ND passed away on Saturday, September 4, 2010 at his home in Durango. Micah Gilleshammer was born February 19, 1987 in Grafton, ND the son of Guy Gilleshammer and Lilly (Jerry) "Anhorn" Lysengen. He grew up and attended school in St. Thomas, ND graduating in 2006. Following his education he worked for Marvin Windows in Grafton and Warroad. He also worked for Trail King in Fargo and helped out with the sugar beet harvest. In 2007 he moved to Durango, CO where he worked for the LaPlata County Sheriff Department. In May of 2010 he graduated from the Southwest Regional Law Enforcement Academy in Durango, CO. He was a former member of the St. Thomas Volunteer Fire Department and a member of St. John's Lutheran Church of St. Thomas, the Durango Martial Arts, and the Upper Pine River Fire Department. He was also a member of the CERT Team, a Krav Maga Instructor, a Field Training Officer, and a beloved brother officer. Micah enjoyed training with his brothers at Durango Martial Arts, adventuring in his jeep, fishing with his dad Jerry and his uncles at Lake of the Woods, rooting for the Dolphins football team, spending time with his family, and relaxing at home with his hounds and his love, Amelia. He touched many lives and spread his love everywhere he went. He was full of life and reached out to everyone he met. He was very compassionate, inspiring, energetic, joyous, honest and loving. He will be greatly missed by many and live on in our memories and our hearts. There are not enough words to encompass his beauty and the blessing he was. He is survived by his mother Lilly (Jerry) Lysengen, St. Thomas, ND; his father Guy Gilleshammer, Durango, CO; brothers: Jacob Gilleshammer (Brittany Laaveg), Fargo, ND; Ian Gilleshammer, Grand Forks, ND; his sister Shauna McMillan, Grand Forks, ND; his love Amelia Hanna, Durango, CO; paternal grandparents: Glenn and Loretta Gilleshammer, Grafton, ND; aunts and uncles: Freda (Tim) Gowan, Manvel, ND; Dan (Diane) Anhorn, Rossevelt, MN: Alvin Anhorn, Rick Anhorn and several other aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents. Memorial services will be Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at 2:00 PM at the St. Thomas High school Gymnasium. Visitation will be Tuesday for one hour prior to the service.
