Merle Daley

April 25, 1928 — May 26, 2008

Merle Daley, age 80 of Fargo, formerly of Adams and Park River, ND, passed away peacefully on Memorial Day, May, 26, 2008 at the Pioneer House in Fargo. Merle was born on April 25, 1928 to Ted and Jennie Daley of Mandt, ND. He attended country school in Mandt and graduated from the Walsh Country Agricultural School in Park River in 1946. Following graduation, he entered the United States Marine Corps.

On December 12, 1949, he married his high school sweetheart, Marilyn Boe from Adams, ND. They farmed near Adams for many years where Merle won numerous awards for his premium durum. He was active on the church council at Mountain Lutheran Church and the St. Ansgar's Hospital Board. Later he was instrumental in helping to establish the Hospice Program in the area. Merle was proud of his military service and was active in the Qualley-Dvorak post #237 of the American Legion in Adams.
Marilyn passed away in 1995. In October 2000, he was blessed to be married to Mary Ann Monson Quinn. They had great fun traveling and enjoying genealogy research. Mary Ann passed away suddenly in 2003. Merle moved to the Pioneer House in Fargo where he was surrounded by caring staff and formed wonderful friendships.

Merle is survived by his daughters, Cindy ( Mark) Olson of Ottertail, MN, Andrea (Greg) Stennes of East Grand Forks, MN, Jennifer ( Bill) Novak of Kindred, ND, and son Mark(Sally) of Santa Fe, NM and stepson Dan Quinn of Mpls, his grandchildren, Adam (Abby) Olson, Nathan Olson, Annie Stennes, Robin (Rich) Bartell, Trevor, Samantha and Halley Novak and great granddaughter, Naomi, a brother Quentin (Lorraine) and sister in law, Annie Daley Kingsbury and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wives, Marilyn and Mary Ann, 4 brothers, Francis, Leroy, Forrest and Elvern and sister La Mae and infant grandson Luke.

The Daley Family sincerely thanks Hospice of the Red River Valley for their wonderful care and support. Visitation will be Friday, May 30, 2008 at the Mountain Lutheran Church from 5-7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7p.m. A celebration of Merle's life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 31, 2008 at the Adams Mountain Lutheran Church.

The Tollefson Funeral Home of Park River is in charge of the arrangements.
