May Hagen, age 78 of Grafton, ND passed away on Monday, January 11, 2010 at the Altru Hospital of Grand Forks after a very courageous battle with cancer. May A. Skjervem was born May 2, 1931 in Bottineau, ND the daughter of the late Henry and Alma (Kittleson) Skjervem. She grew up and attended school in Bottineau. She moved to Oregon where she worked for a time. May was united in marriage to Donald Hagen on January 26, 1952 in Bottineau, ND. The couple lived in the western part of North Dakota. In 1958 they moved to New Town, ND and owned and operated Hagen's Westland Service Station and Bulk Oil Business. The couple retired in 1995. May moved to Grafton, ND in 1993 and Donald later joined her there. Donald passed away in 1997. May was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Sh dedicated her life to her family and friends. May was a strong, courageous, and caring person who will be missed. May is survived by her children: Lonny (Nancy) Hagen, New Town, ND; Luanna (Alvie) McLean, Phoenix, AZ; Jack Hagen, Fargo, ND; Janine Morgan, Minot, ND; Bonnie Hagen, Grafton, ND; grandchildren: Stacey Hagen, San Francisco, CA; Kristin (Eric) Jaeger, Parshall, ND; Broc Morgan, Fargo, ND; sisters: Arlene Burdick, Helena, MT; Anna (George) Houle, Lynnwood, WA; sister-in-law Joyce Skjervem, Minot, ND. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald, brothers: Harold and Marvin Skjervem. Funeral services will be Thursday, January 14, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Visitation will be Thursday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Oak Creek Cemetery, Bottineau, ND.
