Mavis Elaine Kjelland, age 64, passed away July 20, 2008 at her home in Park River, North Dakota.
Mavis Elaine Myrvik was born to Orval and Clara Myrvik on September 29, 1943 in Grafton, North Dakota.
Mavis was raised on the family farm in Milton, ND until 1959, when her parents moved to Park River, ND. She attended Walsh County Agricultural School, graduating in 1961.
On October 7, 1961 Mavis married Elroy Kjelland at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Park River, ND.
They had four children, Debbie, Todd, Kristi, and Julie. Mavis and Elroy spent time in between the Seattle, Washington area and the Park River, North Dakota area before settling in Park River for retirement.
She is survived by her husband, Elroy, three daughters:
Debbie (Daryl) Bakke, Milton, WA, Kristi (Mike) Lukas, Maryville, TN, Julie (Miguel) Flores, Highlands Ranch, CO and a son: Todd Kjelland for Federal Way, WA. Grandchildren: Kayla and Tyler Bakke, Milton, WA, Megan and Stephanie Kjelland, Bonney Lake, WA, Casey and Ashley Kjelland, Federal Way, WA and Kaya Flores, Highlands Ranch, CO. She is also survived by her father Orval Myrvik, Park River, ND and sister Marian (Hamilton) Hurtt, Hoople, ND and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Clara Myrvik and one brother-in-law Chester Sandvik.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, July 24, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Park River, ND. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-7 P.M. with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Park River.
Friends may also call at the church for one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Interment will be at the Golden Cemetery, rural Park River.
The Tollefson Funeral Home of Park River is in charge of the arrangements.
