Maureen K. Setness

Maureen K. Setness, age 76 of Park River, ND and formerly of Adams, ND passed away on Monday, January 2, 2023 at her home with her beloved family by her side.

Maureen Kay was born on March 20, 1946 in Grafton, ND the daughter of the late Albert and Mildred (Capouch) Vigen.  She grew up on a farm near Adams with her younger brothers Morris and Gary.  Maureen graduated from Adams High School with the class of 1964.  On June 18, 1966, Maureen was united in marriage to Burnell Hegg. They had three daughters together: Rebecca, Rachelle, and Renae.  Burnell passed away in 1975.   Maureen married Wayne Setness on November 26, 1976 at the Adams Mountain Lutheran Church.  They made their home on the family farm in Adams, welcoming three children: Cheryl, Dan and Stacey.

Maureen was a caregiver and worked as a home health aide, CNA, and an activities coordinator. She was a member of the Adams Mountain Lutheran Church and WELCA.  She was also a member of the American Legion Auxilary.  Maureen loved to quilt, knit, read, attend bible study, listen to George Jones, and watch for deer.  She sold Tupperware for years and was the person to find you exactly what you needed.

Maureen will be dearly missed by her children: Rebecca Collins (Dean Kovarik), Big Stone City, SD, Rachelle (Jeff) Kinn, Bismarck, ND, Cheryl Anderson, New Rockford, ND, Dan (Tressa) Setness, Thompson, ND, and Stacey Altepeter, Fertile, MN; grandchildren: Amy Collins (TJ O'Donnell), Kayla Collins, Josh, Ben (Nikki), Alyssa, and Alex Kinn, Katlynn Setness, Landen Anderson, Drevin and Ryder Setness, and Tristan, Kaylee, and Zach Altepeter; great grandchildren: Thomas and Teagan O’Donnell and Ole and Ronnie Kinn; brother Gary (Joleen) Vigen, Adams, ND and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Burnell Hegg and Wayne Setness, daughter Renae Hegg, brother Morris Vigen and nephew Jan Vigen.

Memorial Services will be on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at the Adams Mountain Lutheran Church of Adams, ND.  Visitation will be one hour prior the service at the church.  Inurnment will be at West Adams Cemetery in the spring. The service will be live streamed on the Tollefson Funeral Home, Inc Facebook page.  A special thank you to Hospice of the Red River Valley for the exceptional care they gave to Maureen.
