Matthew Joseph Turner Hilton, age 40 of Drayton, ND, died peacefully at his home on Monday, August 19, 2019 in Drayton.
Matthew was born January 1, 1979 in Edina, Minnesota, the son of Joyce McFarland and the late Roger Hilton. He attended school in Ada, MN, where he had perfect attendance from Kindergarten through ninth grade. He then attended Bob Bondurant School of High Performance Driving in Chandler, Arizona. He was hired by Bondurant Racing and assisted with their racing department. Throughout his years of racing cars, he raced everything from Indy cars, Enduro cars, testing police cars and testing 30 race cars per day at the school. Matthew made his home in Arizona until moving to Drayton, ND in 2004.
He was a member of Faith United Church, Ada, MN. Matthew loved Donald Duck. He started collecting Donald Duck Memorabilia when he was four years old. His unique collection has grown to over 500 pieces throughout the years. He was active in BMX racing. Matthew was a master of all trades; he was very handy and could fix anything. He loved nature and people. He was a sweet kind soul to everyone he met and made each person happier.
Matthew is survived by his mother, Joyce McFarland, Drayton, ND; step-father, Don Williams, Ada, MN; brother, Nathanial (Angelique) Hilton, Twin Valley, MN; sister, Janelle Hilton, Laguna Beach, CA; step-brothers: Jason Williams and Chad Williams; step-sisters: Kim Williams and Deanna Stanley; nieces and nephews: Tim, Cody, Trysta (Nevaeh), Tiara and Robert; aunt and uncle, Renae (Mike) Sirek, Moorhead, MN; cousins: Melanie, Crystal (Ellie & Mollie), Shaun (Cody, Montanna & Reilly), Tyler (Asher, Savannah & Hudson) Drew and Vanessa. He was preceded in death by his sweetheart, Kammi Sue Leland; father, Roger Hilton; maternal grandparents, Loren and Pearl McFarland; paternal grandparents, Einar and Eleanor Hilton; aunt and uncle, Dennis and Lorna McFarland and great uncle Joseph Turner McFarland.
Funeral services will be Sunday, August 25, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. at the Drayton United Methodist Church, Drayton, ND. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Drayton City Cemetery.
