Mary E Suda

Mary E. Suda, age 88, of Veseleyville, ND, passed away Thursday, October 23, 2025, at First Care Health Center in Park River, ND.

Mary Elizabeth Suda was born October 21, 1937, to Daniel and Margaret (Gallagher) McEwen in Grafton, ND. She was raised in the Drayton area and attended a country school before enrolling and graduating from St. Aloysius Academy in Oakwood, ND. Following graduation, Mary worked as a nurse’s aide at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Grafton and later as a bookkeeper for Farm Bureau. She married Cyril Suda on June 30, 1958, at St. Edward’s Catholic Church of Drayton, and they settled in the Veseleyville area. She later worked at Reyleck’s Department Store from the late 1970’s until the early 1990’s. After her retirement from Reyleck’s, Mary was an integral part of the family farm operation whether driving the grain cart, operating the beet topper, keeping the books or helping with moves between fields. She was a longtime member of St. Luke’s Catholic Church of Veseleyville.

Mary is survived by her husband of 67 years, Cyril “Cy” Suda; children Brad (Robin), Grafton, Mark (Denise), Hillsboro, Susan (Phil) Miklas, Prosser, WA, Wayne (Susan), Grafton, and Nancy (Thomas) Meader, Minneapolis, MN; 15 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; sisters Bonnie Suda, Grafton, Judy (Jeff) Jefferson, Aurora, CO, and Doreen (John) Studsrud, Dickinson, ND; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, son Dennis and brother-in-law Frank Suda.

Mass of Christian burial will be Friday, November 21, 2025, at 11:00 am at St. Luke’s Catholic Church of Veseleyville. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be at St. Luke’s Catholic Cemetery.
