Colleen Prondzinski, age 72 of Grafton, ND, passed away on Thursday, January 14, 2016 at her home in Grafton.
Mary Colleen Schanilec was born August 27, 1943 in Park River, ND, the daughter of the late William and Alyce (Greicar) Schanilec. She grew up and attended school in Pisek, graduating from Pisek High School. Following her education, she began working at the J.C. Penny’s store in Grafton. She was united in marriage to Glenn Benson in 1964 in Grafton. She continued to work at the store until moving to Eugene, OR in 1979. She was united in marriage to Franklin Prondzinski on August 1, 1990 in Reno, NV and the couple moved to Grafton in 1992. Shortly after Frank’s passing in 2001, she began working at Wally’s Supermarket , now Hugo’s in Grafton.
She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church of Grafton. She enjoyed gardening and travelling.
Colleen is survived by her son: Troy Benson, Bellingham, WA, grandson Dustin Benson, Bellingham, WA, sisters: Judith (Lyle) Beiswenger, Grand Forks, ND and Sandy (Dave) Grossbach, Mazeppa, MN, and special friend Jacob Kramer, Grafton, ND. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Frank, and brother Maynard Schanilec.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, January 22, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church of Grafton. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in the spring.
