Mary B. Grandy

Mary B. Grandy age 88 of Detroit Lakes, MN and formerly of St. Thomas, ND passed away on Saturday, December 4, 2010 at her home in Detroit Lakes, MN. Mary B. Daniels was born May 12, 1922 in Midland Township of Pembina County, ND the daughter of the late Louis and Suzanne (Korb) Daniels. She attended rural school near St. Thomas and graduated from High School in St. Paul, MN. Mary was united in marriage to William Grandy on October 24, 1947 in Crookston, MN. The couple lived and farmed near St. Thomas, ND until his death on Feb. 6, 1991. She continued to live in St. Thomas, ND and wintered in Arizona until June of 2006 when she moved to Detroit Lakes, MN. Mary was a member of the St. Thomas United Methodist Church and WMF, the St. Thomas American Legion Auxiliary and was very active in the Republican Women of District 10 and 11. Mary is survived by her children: William (Diane) Grandy Jr., St. Thomas, ND; Elizabeth (William) Landrigan, San Clemente, CA; four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, five brothers and three sisters. Funeral services will be Friday, December 10, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at the St. Thomas United Methodist Church. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Friends may also call at the church on Friday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the St. Thomas City Cemetery.
