Marvin D. Lykken, age 91 of Grafton, ND passed away on Monday, January 27 at his winter home in New Port Richey, Florida.

Marvin was born October 7, 1928 in Grafton, the son of the late Selmer Lykken and Dagmar (Sather) Lykken. In 1946 he graduated from high school in Grafton and went to college at the University of North Dakota. Marvin enlisted in the army and served in the 1 st Armored Division from March 1951 to March 1953. Upon his discharge, he returned to Grafton. He was united in marriage to Bonnie Lou Littlejohn on November 29, 1953. The couple lived briefly in California before returning to Grafton.

Marvin started a construction business and built numerous homes in Grafton and the surrounding areas. He later worked for the City of Grafton before retiring.  Marvin loved music, played the saxophone and trombone, and enjoyed dancing at local dance halls. He had a lifelong appreciation for the outdoors and often brought his nieces and nephews to hoe weeds at the farm. He continued to do yard work into his 90s and enjoyed watching the birds and alligators from his Florida home.  Later in life he enjoyed visiting with his friends at the Grafton Armory for noon meals.

Marvin is survived by his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and several nieces and nephews.  He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.  He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.

Private Graveside Services will be held at Grafton Lutheran Cemetery.  Military Rites will be provided by the North Dakota National Guard Honor Guard.
