Martina A Oosterwijk

Martina A. "Tina" Oosterwijk, age 85 of Forest River, ND passed away on Monday, July 14, 2014 at Altru Hospital of Grand Forks. Martina A. Konst was born March 26, 1929 in Aalsmeer Holland, the daughter of the late Cornelis and Catharina (VanVeen) Konst. She grew up and attended school there receiving her bachelor's degree in Home Economics in Bovenkerk, Holland. Tina was united in marriage to Bernard Oosterwijk on November 8, 1952 in Bovenkerk, Holland. The couple immigrated to the United States in 1952, settling in Forest River, ND. The couple owned and operated the Forest River Tavern from 1958-1978. Ben passed away on Dec. 13, 1995. Tina was a member of the former St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and Altar Society of Ardoch. She was currently a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Altar Society of Minto. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and the Homemakers groups of Forest River and Adams as well as the Forest River, Gilby and Minto Senior Citizens. Tina is survived by her children: George (Rita) Oosterwijk, Escondido, CA; Mike (Pam) Oosterwijk, Forest River, ND; Cheryl (Mike) Peterson, Finley, ND; eight grandchildren: Eric and Brian Olsen, Mark, Jon and Jason McEvers, Matt and Josh Peterson and Dani Lindemann, 14 great grandchildren, her sister, Ria (Huub) Heemskerk, Aalsmeer, Holland, six brothers: Kees Konst, Jaap (Ann) Konst, Sum Konst, Huub (Treen) Konst, Ton (Tonni) Konst and Paul (Vera) Konst all of Aalsmeer, Holland. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ben and five sisters. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, July 18, 2014 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church of Warsaw. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-7 with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Friends may also call at the church on Friday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Forest River Cemetery, Forest River, ND.
