Martha E. Troftgruben, age 94 of Grafton, formerly of Edinburg, ND passed away Monday, November 04, 2013 at the Lutheran Sunset Home of Grafton. Martha E. Johnson was born January 19, 1919 in rural Park River, ND, the daughter of the late Peder and Laura (Flaten) Johnson. She graduated from the Walsh County Agricultural School in 1937 and later graduated from the Lutheran Bible Institute of Minneapolis, MN. Martha was united in marriage to Edroy Troftgruben on November 23, 1939 in Grand Forks. The couple lived and farmed in Tiber Township until retiring in 1985. Martha is a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Edinburg, ND and a member of the former Odalen Lutheran Church. She was an avid quilter and donated many quilts to the Park River Bible Camp and worked at the annual camp suppers for 25 years. Martha is survived by her children: Cheryl (Ken) McDonald, Bemidji, MN; Eldon (Linda) Troftgruben, Edinburg, ND; Verlynn (Mary) Troftgruben, New Richmond, WI; six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; sisters: Lois Winther, Park River, ND; Dorothy (Vernon) Russum, Grafton, ND; Marilyn (Rossford) Johnson, Park River, ND. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Edroy, children: infant son Eldon, Merle and Leona; brothers Allerd and Howard. Funeral services will be Saturday, November 9, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at the Trinity Lutheran Church, of Edinburg, ND. Friends may call at the church on Saturday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Odalen Lutheran Cemetery, rural Edinburg.
