Martha D. Rudnik, age 94 of Minto, ND passed away on Monday, February 27, 2017 at the Unity Medical Center of Grafton.
Martha D. Czapiewski was born January 30, 1923 in Warsaw, ND the daughter of the late Frank and Barbara (Paschke) Czapiewski. She attended rural school near Warsaw. Martha was united in marriage to Johnny D. Rudnik on October 12, 1942 in Minto, ND. The couple lived and farmed near Warsaw until retiring in 2000. He passed away later in 2000. Martha continued to live on the farm until April of 2016 when she moved to the Lutheran Sunset Home.
Martha was a member of the St. Stanislaus Catholic Church and Altar Society, the Sacred Heart Society of Warsaw. Martha was a wonderful Mom and Grandma who loved Jesus. Saying her Rosary was a big part of her day. She had a wonderful smile, a caring way about her and a good sense of humor. In her earlier years she loved to cook, bake, sew, embroidery, garden and especially loved taking care of her grandchildren. She was the best at making mountain cake, mac salad, caramel rolls, pierogi, and sugar cookies. She has passed the talent to her grandchildren. She loved to play pinochle and 31. After every visit she would always say, “I love you very much”.
Martha is survived by her children: Henry Rudnik and Mary Mondry, both of Minto, ND; her grandchildren: Marlene (Daniel) Motter, Ann Mondry, Lynn (D.J.) Motteberg, Tammy Rudnik (Gary Lee), Troy (Crissy) Rudnik, Amy (Jared) Dreier, Jenny (Jered) Wambach, Josh (Alissa) Rudnik, Stephany Rudnik, 19 great grandchildren,one great great grandchild and sister: Dorothy (Roman) Rudnik, Grafton, ND; sisters –in-law: Adeline Dvorak, Grafton, ND; Mary Ann Czapiewski, Tacoma, WA. Several nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Raymond, son-in-law, Lyle Mondry, sisters: Isabel Helmowski and Gen Narlock, and brothers: Ernest, Richard and Henry Czapiewski.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 3:00 P.M. at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church of Warsaw, ND. Visitation will be Friday from 6-8 P.M. with a rosary at 7:45 P.M. at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Friends may also call at the church on Saturday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at St. Stanislaus Cemetery in the spring.
