Martha H. Campbell, age 94 of Grafton, ND passed away on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at Altru Hospital of Grand Forks.
Martha Helen Pinta was born April 21, 1922 on the family farm near Grafton, the daughter of the late Frank and Martha Helen (Kroll) Pinta. She attended Walsh Centre School District #101 and graduated from Grafton High school. While in high school she lived with a family in town and worked for room and board. Following her high school education she worked at Rexall Drug. Martha was united in marriage to Oswald Campbell on June 13, 1944 in Veseleyville, ND. In the 1940’s Oswald and Martha spent one winter in Hastings Nebraska where they worked in the ammunition factories. The couple lived and farmed near Grafton until 1978 when Oswald’s health forced him to retire. Martha worked at People’s Bakery and later at the Developmental Center for over 20 years. The couple moved to Grafton in 1980. Oswald passed away on Jan. 22, 2004. Martha moved to the Lutheran Sunset Home in August of 2016.
She was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church and Altar Society. She volunteered with the funeral committee for many years and the Second Time Around store in Grafton. She was a member of the Handicapped Club in Grafton.
Martha is survived by her children: Geraldine (Joe) Welharticky, York, NE; Lowell Campbell, Aneta, ND; Devra (Kevin) Olmstead, Grafton, ND; eight grandchildren; ten great grandchildren, and her brother, Ben Pinta, Grafton, ND. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Oswald, daughter, Colleen and three brothers: Felix, Joseph and Raymond.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, September 22, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church of Grafton. Visitation will be Thursday from 9:30 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. at the church. Interment will be at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery.
