Marlow L. Bjerke

Marlow L. Bjerke age 83 of Park River, ND passed away Saturday, September 15, 2012 at the First Care Health Center of Park River. Marlow L. Bjerke was born June 4, 1929 in Grand Forks, ND, the son of the late Anton and Gladys (Halvorson) Bjerke. He Graduated from Central High School in Grand Forks. Marlow was united in marriage to Edith Ford on August 17, 1949 in Park River, ND. He served in the U.S. Marines from 1952-1954. He started working for International Harvester in Grand Forks. Following his discharge he returned to International Harvester in Grand Forks. He transferred to Fargo and later moved to Denver, CO. He retired from International Harvester in Denver in the late 1970's. The couple then returned to Fargo and later returned to Park River, where they lived until the time of his death. He was a member of the Federated Church, Park River and the Paul Farup American Legion Post #147. Marlow is survived by his wife of 63 years Edith Bjerke, Park River, ND; brother Robert (Phyllis) Bjerke, Devils Lake, ND and sister Edna Halvorson, Bagley, MN. He was also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Buddie, William and Donald. Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at the Federated Church, Park River, ND. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-7 P.M. with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Park River. Friends may also call at the church on Wednesday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Memorial Park Cemetery, Park River. Military Rites will be provided by the North Dakota National Guard Honor Guard. Memorials are preferred to the Federated Church Window Fund.
