Marlene R. Monson

Marlene Monson, age 86 of Grafton, ND passed away on Monday, March 2, 2026 at her home in Grafton.

Marlene Schultz Monson was born February 21, 1940 in Acton Township, the daughter of the late Arthur and Gladys (Seeba) Schultz. She grew up and attended country school in Acton Township thought the 7th grade. Following her education she worked as a caregiver for a family in the Oakwood area until she started working at Ma Lerud’s Drive Inn in Grafton. She met the love of her life Mandus Monson and they were married June 25, 1961. They had two sons Dennis Monson of Grafton and Lynn Monson of Fargo. She helped and worked on the farm until the couple moved to Grafton in 1987. Mandus passed away in 2002 and she continued to make her home in Grafton until her passing.

Marlene was a member of the Grafton Lutheran Church. She enjoyed working in her garden and on puzzles.

She is survived by her children Dennis (Fiancé Michelle Coulter) Monson, Grafton, ND and Lynn Monson, Fargo, ND; 3 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; siblings: LeRoy (Pat) Schultz, Grand Junction, CO, Gary (Barb) Schultz, Minto, ND, Karen Baier, Hoople, ND, Pearl (Bob) Paschke, Mapleton, ND; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Gladys Schultz; husband Mandus; daughter-in-law Mary Monson; as well as her grandparents, aunts and uncles.

Funeral services will be Monday, March 9, 2026 at 10:30 am at the Grafton Lutheran Church. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at the Grafton Lutheran Cemetery in the spring.
