Marjorie Lois Vavrosky

Marjorie Lois Vavrosky, age 85 of Park River, ND, passed away at the First Care Health Center in Park River, North Dakota on Sunday, January 5, 2020.

Marjorie was born on February 25, 1934, in Mahnomen, Minnesota to George and Ida (Amundson) Widme.  She moved with her parents to Park River in 1944 and graduated from Park River High School in 1952.  She attended North Dakota State University for two years and later transferred to Mayville State College.  Marjorie was united in marriage to Ronald Vavrosky on January 12, 1955 in Park River, where they made their home and raised their four children.  Marjorie worked at the Johnson Store in Park River for a number of years and later worked in the laundry department at the Grafton State School.  Ronald and Marjorie greatly enjoyed spending time in the winter in Brownsville, Texas and were “snowbirds” for over 20 years.  Marjorie enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was a member of our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Park River for 75 years.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 61 years, and a nephew.  She is survived by her four children; Douglas (Avril) Vavrosky, McKinney, TX; Donald Vavrosky, Columbia Heights, MN; Karen (Henry) Estephan, New Brighton, MN and Kathryn Swallow, Park River, ND; six grandchildren: Peter, Ryan, John, Wesley, James and Mark.  Marjorie is also survived by three great-grandchildren: Kaylie, Ryer, and Evangleine, along with two nephews; Mike and Steve VavRosky and one niece, Becky VavRosky.

Memorial Services will be Thursday, January 9, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. at the Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church of Park River, ND. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church.  Inurnment will be at the Memorial Park Cemetery, Park River, ND.  Memorials should be directed to Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Park River or Park River Ambulance Fund.
