Marjorie June Lysengen passed away peacefully at the Lutheran Sunset Home of Grafton on February 7, 2017.
Marjorie June Baldwin was born December 9th, 1920, in St. Thomas, ND. She graduated from St. Thomas High School in 1939. She went on to earn her Teaching Degree at Mayville State Teachers College. To the surprise of her parents, she and her sisters enlisted into the U.S. Marine Corps in 1942. She was stationed in the Washington D.C. area and at Camp Lejeune, NC. After the war, Marjorie was united in marriage to Lawrence Edwin Lysengen on Dec. 12th, 1946. They were married at the United Methodist Church where they remained members. They had three children; Larry, Jennifer and Tracey and farmed in the St. Thomas area until the death of her husband and daughter, Tracey on December 31, 1965. Marge, Larry and Jennifer relocated to San Diego, CA to be closer to family. There Marjorie worked as a Realtor and donated many volunteer hours to the Red Cross. She was an avid reader and enjoyed golf, traveling and all that California had to offer. She took charge when called upon and forged a new life for her family in the most difficult of circumstances. She is loved by many.
She is survived by son, Larry (Patti), Bismarck; daughter, Jennifer (Louis) Webster, San Diego; four grandchildren, Nathan, Lindsay, Jill and Natasha; and four great-grandchildren, Stellan, Mia, Gigi and Trace. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by her siblings: William Baldwin, Katherine Wilson, Esther Baldwin and Edith Quarles.
Services will be held at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton on Saturday, Feb. 11th at 3:00 p.m with visitation held one hour prior to service. Interment will be at the St. Thomas City Cemetery, St. Thomas, North Dakota in the spring. Military rites will be provided by the St. Thomas American Legion and the North Dakota National Guard Honor Guard.
