Marion Watkins

Marion Watkins, age 99 of Grafton, ND passed away on Thursday, March 07, 2013 at the Lutheran Sunset Home of Grafton. Marion J. Uggerud, the daughter of the late Ole E. and Florence M. (Coates) Uggerud, was born November 2, 1913 near Drayton in Pembina County, ND. She grew up and attended school in Martin Township. Following her education she worked on the family farm until she was united in marriage to Willis Watkins on October 24, 1934 in the Grafton Lutheran Parsonage. The couple lived and farmed in Walsh County until retiring and moving into Grafton in 1978. Willis passed away on January 29, 1986. Marion moved into the Lutheran Sunset Home in July of 2010. She was a member of the Grafton Lutheran Church, WELCA, circle and quilting. She was also a member of the St. Andrews Homemakers Group and served on the Herrick School District #31 School Board. She is survived by her children: Robert (Marilyn) Watkins, Brooklyn Park, MN, Doris Thomasson, Coon Rapids, MN, Thelma (LeRoy) Nelson, Grafton, ND, Mary (Everett) Wheeler, Champlin, MN, Raymond (Kathy) Watkins, Brooklyn Park, MN, George (Darlene) Watkins, Drayton, ND, Renae (Lynn) Fredrickson, Drayton, ND, sisters-in-law: Lila Uggerud, Grafton, ND, Dorothy Olson, Grafton, ND, 21 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, 8 step-great grandchildren, and 3 step-great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant daughter Helen Louise, 2 sisters: Evelyn and Hazel, brother Edward, and son-in-law Dick Thomasson. Funeral services will be Monday, March 11, 2013 at 10:30 A.M. at Grafton Lutheran Church. Visitation will be Sunday from 3-5 P.M. with a prayer service at 5:00 P.M. at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Friends may also call at the church for one hour prior to the service on Monday. Interment will be at the Grafton Lutheran Cemetery.
