Marie Louise Setnes, age 93, of Park River, ND, passed away Saturday, January 6, 2018 after a brief illness at the First Care Health Center of Park River.
Marie Louise Frovarp was born May 20, 1924 to Carl and Clara (Johnson) Frovarp on the Adams farm in Vesta Township. Marie was the oldest of five children. She was baptized at the Hoff Lutheran Church and attended school at the Hoff School. At the age of 16 she moved to Lankin and worked for Mabel Halverson at the cream station. On November 4, 1946 Marie married Elmo Setnes. They lived in Park River where Elmo worked construction. They had three children. Marie’s younger sisters, Loretta and Alva lived with them during their high school years as did several students from around Walsh County during a ten year period. Marie later worked at the Park River Flake Plant and the Park River Good Samaritan Center. She has lived at the Park River Good Samaritan Center for the last year.
Marie was a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran church where she taught Sunday school and Bible School. She enjoyed working in her flower beds, cleaning and baking. She was well known for her banana bread. Marie was devoted to her religion and firm in her beliefs and love of her family.
She is survived by her children: Wanda (Warren) Ludtke, Park River, ND; Gary Setnes, Glenwood Springs, CO; Audrey (John) Blair, Park River, ND; five grandchildren: Darren (Amanda) Ludtke, Darcie (Travis) Roche, Ryan Larson, Garrett (Robyn) Larson and Rose (Andy) Rossello; two step-grandchildren; Carey (Candice) Blair and BreeAnn (Stephen) Lightfoot; ten great grandchildren: Lauren & Avery Ludtke, Roman & Mason Roche, Max & Eva Larson, Birdie & Remi Larson and Alma & Anthony Rossello; four step-great grandchildren; Connor & Cohen Blair and Abby & Seth Lightfoot; her sister, Alva (Larry) Rike, Mesa, AZ and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmo, sister, Loretta Gorder and brothers: Gerald Frovarp and Kenneth Frovarp.
Funeral services will be Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 10:30 A.M. at the Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church of Park River. Visitation will be Friday from 5-7:00 P.M. with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Park River. Friends may also call at the church on Saturday for one hour prior to service. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Park River in the spring.
