Marie Ann Pich

Marie Ann Pich, age 81 of West Fargo, ND and formerly of Lankin, ND passed away on Thursday, July 9, 2015 at Eventide Nursing Home/Sheyenne Crossings, West Fargo, ND. Marie Ann Houdek was born August 31, 1933 on the family farm near Veseleyville, ND to parents, Bohumir Cyril "B.C." and Anna (Schanilec) Houdek. During her school years she was a member of St. Luke's Catholic Church and loved to sing in the church choir. As a young woman she spent many years helping family and neighbors raise their children. Marie married Donald L. Pich on June 25, 1957 in Veseleyville. After their marriage, Donald and Marie raised three children on their farm near Bechyne, ND. Following retirement they moved into Lankin, ND. Marie was a wonderful mother, cook, baker, gardener and a hard working farm wife. She was a member of the St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and sang in the choir. After moving to Lankin she cooked for several years at the Lankin Public School and did seasonal farm work for area farmers. She was a devoted member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and loved to sing with her friends, the "Valley Czech Singers." Donald passed away on November 11, 2007. Marie was a gentle woman that loved to visit with friends and relatives and share a good joke. She will be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched. Marie lived at the Good Samaritan Center in Park River, ND for several years before moving to the Good Samaritan Center in Fargo and most recently the Eventide Nursing Home in West Fargo. She is survived by two daughters: Karen (Jeff) Peterson, Grand Forks, ND; Janice Pich, West Fargo, ND; son, Donald Jr. (Sharon), Fargo, ND; grandchildren: Christopher (Shelby) Peterson, Michael Peterson, Heather Pich Offerdahl, Jean Pich, Rachael Pich, Joe Pich, great grandchildren: Cameron and Carson, sisters: Monica Perkerewicz, East Grand Forks, MN; Cyrilla Perkerewicz, Minneapolis, MN; Germaine (Joe) Bosh, Lakota, ND; Margaret (Lloyd) Johnson, Minneapolis, MN; and Barbara (Vic) Sobolik, Pisek, ND; sister-in-law, Harriet Kotaska, Manvel, ND. Several nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers: Arnold, Clem and Al Houdek and brothers-in-law: Raphael and Chester Perkerewicz. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, July 13, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Lankin, ND. A rosary service will be held on Monday at 9:45 A.M with visitation to follow from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph's Catholic Church of Lankin. Interment will be at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery, Bechyne, ND.
