Marie Hajicek

Marie Hajicek, age 81 of Park River, ND, passed away on Monday, January 11, 2016 at the Altru Hospital of Grand Forks, ND.

Marie Radliff was born February 1, 1934 in Frankford, MO, the daughter of the late Wilbur and Iola (Stempel) Radliff. Her father was a Presbyterian minister and she attended 14 different schools during her education, graduating from the Walsh County Agricultural School in Park River in 1952. She then attended Mayville Teacher’s College and earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Education. She was united in marriage to Lawrence Hajicek on May 28, 1954 at the Federated Church in Park River. The couple made their home in Park River and Marie taught for 35 years, retiring in 1990.

She was a member of the Park River Federated Church where she was the church organist for 65 years. She served on the Park Board and various church boards including the Missions Committee. She was an avid Bridge player, enjoyed going to Bible study, and she loved flowers, gardening and quilting.

Marie is survived by her husband Lawrence of Park River, ND, children: James Hajicek, Park River, ND, Randal Hajicek, Park River, ND, Terrence (Darlene) Hajicek, Rolette, ND, Kathryn (Johnny) Johnson, Beulah, ND, 7 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, brothers: Richard Radliff, Aurora, CO and David (Irma) Radliff, Ruskin, FL. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters: Virginia Nutzman and Norma Waibel, and brothers: Gene Radliff, Meredith Radliff and Kenneth Radliff.

Funeral services will be Friday, January 15, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at the Federated Church of Park River. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-7 with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Park River. Friends may also call at the church for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Memorial Park Cemetery of Park River in the spring.
