Marianne J. Gustafson, age 85 of Adams, passed away Sunday, August 23, 2015 at the First Care Health Center of Park River. Marianne was born June 7, 1930 in Grafton, ND the daughter of the late Ingebrigt and Ellen (Westberg) Midtlyng. She attended elementary school at the Benas School near Adams and graduated from Adams High School in 1948. She worked for Mel Swenson at the Swenson Store and for Clarence Nygard at the café in Fairdale. Marianne was united in marriage to Rodger Gustafson on November 1, 1955 in Alvarado, MN. The couple ran a dairy farm near Adams for 38 years. They later owned and operated the Prairie Lanes and Café in Adams from 1988-2003. Marianne also worked for Kjelland Farms and Rodney K. Olson Potato Company. She drove for Walsh County Transportation Program for over 20 years, retiring when she was 80 years old. She was a member of the Hoff Lutheran Church and WELCA, rural Adams and the Kraft Klub for 59 years. Marianne enjoyed spending time with her kids, grandkids and great grandkids. She loved baking and sharing her goodies with friends and neighbors, even though she thought they never turned out. She was always willing to give rides to anyone who called. Marianne is survived by her children: Sonja (Lowell) Bylin, John (Heidi) Gustafson, James Gustafson (Jennifer Sobolik), all of Adams, ND and Michelle (Steve) Weberg, Stephen, MN; ten grandchildren: Tracy Barclay, Greg (Amber) Gustafson, Aaron (Sarah) Gustafson, Casey Gustafson, Kevin Gustafson (Amber Jacobson), Katie (Scott) Johnke, Nicole Bylin, Rachel, Maddie and Greta Weberg, seven great grandchildren, brother, Homer (Yvonne) Midtlyng, Spokane, WA; brothers-in-law, Oscar Heffta Jr., Park River, ND; Lowell Curry, Topeka, KS. Several nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Rodger, sister Kaye Heffta, baby sister Rita, infant twin boys, sister-in-law, Dorothy Curry and her granddaughter's husband, Brian Barclay. Memorial services will be Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at 10:30 A.M. at the Hoff Lutheran Church of rural Adams. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Park River. Friends may also call at the church on Wednesday for one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be at the Hoff Lutheran Cemetery.
