Maria V. Pokrzywinski

Maria V. Pokrzywinski, age 80 of Grafton, ND passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2022 at her home.

Maria V. Kamrowski was born on August 9, 1941 in Pulaski Township, Walsh County, North Dakota.  She was born the daughter of the late John and Vivian (Duray) Kamrowski.  Maria was born and raised in Walsh County.  She attended grade school at St. Anthony’s Academy Convent School in Warsaw.  Maria graduated from St. Benedict’s Catholic School of Crookston, MN.

Maria united in marriage to Ron Pokrzywinski on August 5, 1963 in Warsaw, ND.  They made their home in Hawley, MN until 1969 when they moved to the family farm near Warsaw.  They farmed together for 40 years.  She loved her life on the farm where she spent her free time gardening and mowing.  Maria also loved to play cards and looked forward to the daily bingo in the Grand Forks Herald.  Maria was a lifelong member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church of Warsaw.  She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Maria is survived by special family friends: Jason and Jodi Hefta, and their children: Megan, Jacob, and Lucas, Minto, ND; several nieces and nephews also survive.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ron, and her siblings.

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, April 4, 2022 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church of Warsaw.  Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at St. Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery in the spring.
