Margaret M. Demers

Margaret M. Demers, age 88 of Grand Forks, ND and formerly of Oakwood, ND passed away on Thursday, May 24, 2012 at the Altru Hospital of Grand Forks. Margaret M. Collette was born June 29, 1923 the daughter of the late Arthur and Louise (Campbell) Collette. She attended St. Aloysius Academy in Oakwood. Margaret took care of her mother until her marriage to Simeon "Sammy" Demers on November 9, 1943 in Oakwood. The couple lived and farmed in the Oakwood area where they raised their nine children. In 1995 Margaret moved to Parkwood Place in Grand Forks. Simeon passed away on July 15, 1996. Margaret was a life-long member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Oakwood and St. Anne's Altar Society. Margaret is survived by her children: Judith (Gerald) Walz, Henderson, NV; Dale (Arlene) DeMers, Grand Forks, ND; Helen Jane (John Rocheford) DeMers, Edina, MN; Linda (Dave) Schmitz, Bismarck, ND; Darlene (Chris) Hansen, Virginia Beach, VA; Wayne (Paula) Demers, West Fargo, ND; Anne (Steven) Kummer, Medford, OR; Debbie DeMers (special friend, Dave Leininger), Fargo, ND; 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, five sisters, two brothers and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Joanne and two brothers. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Oakwood, ND. Visitation will be Monday from 4-7 PM with a rosary service at 6:30 at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Oakwood. Friends may also call at the church on Tuesday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Oakwood, ND.
