Marcella M. Kalash

Marcella M. Kalash, age 84 of Lankin, ND passed away on Thursday, July 22, 2010 near Grafton, ND from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Marcella M. Dvorak was born March 11, 1926 near Veseleyville, ND the daughter of the late Adolph and Mary (Matejcek) Dvorak. She grew up and attended schools near there. Following her education she worked on the family farm. She was united in marriage to Henry Kalash on November 18, 1952 in Veseleyville. The couple lived and farmed near Lankin, ND. She worked potato harvest for Burbidge Farms in Park River for many years. In 1989 the couple moved to Lankin, ND. Henry passed away on September 14, 2008. Marcella was a member of the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church of Bechyne, ND; the Lankin American Legion Auxiliary, the Lankin Senior Citizens and the Catholic Workmen. Marcella is survived by her children: Larry (Diane) Kalash, Grand Forks, ND; Marlys (Duane) Pic, Park River, ND; Tracy (Nick) Reineke, Thompson, ND; her nine grandchildren: Curtis (Shannon) Kalash, Darrin Kalash, Kevin Kalash, Mandy (Michael) Hoverson, Brian (Heather) Pic, Matthew Pic (Alejandrina Aleman); Nicholas, Brittany and Garret Reineke, her eight great grandchildren: Madison Kalash, Mercedes, Madilynn, Max and Mariah Hoverson, Alexis Greicar, Andrew Pic and Ivan Pic; her siblings: Mary Votava, Grand Forks, ND; Dorothy (John) Kosobud, Lankin, ND; Leonard Dvorak, Grafton, ND; her sister-in-law: Adeline Dvorak, Grafton, ND. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son James, four brothers: Adolph, Albert, Henry and Hubert and sisters: Anna and Rose. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, July 26, 2010 at 10:30 A.M. at the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church of Bechyne, ND. Visitation will be Sunday from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Park River. Friends may also call at the church on Monday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the church cemetery.
