Manvel R. Green, age 86 of St. Thomas, ND passed away on Thursday, November 29, 2018 at the Lutheran Sunset Home of Grafton, ND.
Manvel R. Green was born January 21, 1932 in Drayton, ND the son of the late George and Johanna (Nabben) Green. He attended rural school in Midland Township and graduated from the Northwest School of Agriculture in Crookston, MN. He attended NDSU prior to serving in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict at Fort Knox. Manvel was united in marriage to Delores Mattson on June 29, 1952 at the Grafton Lutheran Parsonage. The couple lived in Kentucky until his discharge in 1954 when they returned to St. Thomas. He farmed his entire career, first with his father, then brother-in-law, Ralph Tucker and ultimately with his son and grandson.
Manvel was a member of the St. Thomas United Methodist Church and the St. Thomas American Legion. He served with the Red River Valley Sugarbeet Growers Association on the Research and Education Committee. He was a charter member of the Red River Valley Sugarbeet Museum in Crookston, MN. He was a member of the Pembina County Farm Bureau. Manvel had a passion for fine & fast cars.
Manvel is survived by his children: Robert (Susan) Green, St. Thomas, ND; Dr. Pamela Green (David Warner), Medicine Lake, MN; Karen (Dr. Tom) Ehrhard, Fredericksburg, VA; nine grandchildren: Sean (Teresa) Dunn, Nathan (Melissa) Green, Kara (James) Hembree, Timothy (Erin) Dunn, Dr. Matthew Green, Andrew (Brittany) Ehrhard, Zachary Ehrhard, Charles Warner and Elizabeth Warner; eight great grandchildren: Katelyn & Lauren Dunn, Samuel, Jack and Benjamin Green, Sawyer & Mya Hembree and Jacob Dunn; his sister, Carol (Ralph) Tucker, Grafton, ND. Several nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife on March 30, 2013, his daughter Laurel Dunn and grandson, Ian Dunn.
Funeral services will be Monday, December 3, 2018 at 10:30 AM at the St. Thomas United Methodist Church, St. Thomas, ND. Visitation will be Sunday from 5-7 with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton, ND. Friends may also call at the church on Monday for one hour prior to the service. Military rites will be provided by the St. Thomas American Legion and the North Dakota National Guard Honor Guard. Interment will be at St. Thomas City Cemetery in the spring.
