Mabel Johnson

April 4, 1905 — August 18, 2008

Mabel Johnson, age 103 of Grafton, ND died Monday, August 18, 2008 at the Lutheran Sunset Home of Grafton. Mabel Mohagen was born April 4, 1905 in Grafton Township of Walsh County, ND the daughter of the late Hans and Elvina (Evans) Mohagen. She grew up and attended school near Grafton. Mabel was united in marriage to Nels B. Johnson on May 29, 1931 near Hoople, ND. The couple farmed in Glenwood Township and lived in Nash. Nels died October 10, 1987. In June of 1989 Mabel moved to Grafton and on August 5 th she moved to the Lutheran Sunset Home.

She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church and WELCA of rural Hoople, ND. She also taught Sunday School there. She was a member of the former North Trinity Lutheran Church near Nash. She was an active member of the Parkview Manor Living Center.

Mabel is survived by her children: Lloyd (Joyce) Johnson, Grafton, ND; Delores Swehla, Bowbells, ND; Betty Thompson (John Merloth), Jacobson, MN; Jean (Mick) Paquette, Bloomington, MN; Fern Deborah (Terry) Clark, Great Falls, MT; 14 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers, two sisters and sons-in-law; Francis Swehla and Robert Thompson.

Funeral services will be Saturday, August 23, 2008 at 2:00 PM at the Zion Lutheran Church of rural Hoople. Visitation will be Friday from 5-7 with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Friends may also call at the church on Saturday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the North Trinity Lutheran Cemetery of Nash, ND.

The Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton is in charge of the arrangements.
