Lynus J. Sobolik left this life to be reunited with his wife Toodie on Tuesday, April 14, 2009. Lynus J. Sobolik was born July 9, 1921 in Pisek, ND the son of the late John and Clara (Karnik) Sobolik. He attended rural schools, graduating in 1936. Lynus served in the Army Air Corp from 1942 - 1944. Following his discharge he moved to Veseleyville, ND where he worked for area farmers. Lynus was united in marriage to Frances C. "Toodie" Narlock on June 13, 1951. The couple made their home in Minto where he owned and operated Sobolik Hardware in Minto.
He later worked for Eggs Inc. in Minto and then worked for the O.C. Bjorneby Farms until retiring. Toodie passed away on October 8, 1991.
Lynus was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Minto American Legion Post #201 and the Park River Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his children: Debra (Richard) Dibler, Pittsburg, PA; Carla (Thomas) Benson, Coon Rapids, MN; Lee (Sharon) Sobolik, Minto, ND; Dean (Lana) Sobolik, San Marcos, TX; Shawn (Susan Lee) Sobolik, Minto, ND; Kristie Englund, Pecatonica, IL; Dondi (Khole) Sobolik, Ruby, ND; 15 grandchildren, one step-grandchild, two great grandchildren and siblings: Sylvia Spellman, Littleton, CO; Gerald (Shirley) Sobolik, Park River, ND; John Sobolik, Park River, ND; Clair (Grace) Sobolik, Grand Rapids, MN and best friend, Mary Dobson of Grand Forks, ND. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and son-in-law Terry Englund.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, April 17, 2009 at 10:30 A.M. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Minto. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM and Friday for one hour prior to the service all at the Sacred Heart Church in Minto. Interment will be at the St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery in Minto. Military rites will be provided by the Minto American Legion Post #201.
The Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton is in charge of the arrangements.
