Lynn Marie Stoltman

Lynn Marie Stoltman, age 53 of Grafton, ND passed away on Thursday, September 20, 2018 at the Life Skills and Transition Center of Grafton.

Lynn Marie Stoltman was born March 11, 1965 in Grafton, ND to Ed and Mary Stoltman. She lived at the Grafton State School since the age of 5. She was diagnosed as Autistic at birth. Lynn was unable to learn to speak and had frequent seizures. She had an extremely hyperactive disposition which at times led to her potentially endangering herself.

Before entering the State School, Lynn saw many doctors in several states in search of a cure. She was subjected to several years of specific brain stimulating “Patterning” techniques as a toddler and a little girl which were new at the time, and thought to be appropriate for her condition.

Many friends and neighbors of Lynn’s parents were involved in helping with these patterning programs, but invariably the programs never had the desired effect and Lynn’s brain remained unable to function well enough for her to learn to care for herself.

Lynn is survived by her father, Ed, three older brothers: Larry, Brad and Tom and one younger brother, Ken. She was preceded in death by her mother Mary and her youngest brother, Brian.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, September 27, 2018 at 1:45 PM at the All Faith’s Chapel at the Life Skills and Transition Center of Grafton. Visitation will be Thursday for one hour prior to the service at the All Faith’s Chapel.

The Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton is in charge of the arrangements.
